We Are Daughters is a project to re-imagine the Young Women Theme, which is recited each week by the young women of the LDS church. Currently, the opening lines of the theme read, “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him.” This beautiful sentiment is one we heartily embrace. We believe this important lesson should be broadened to include our Heavenly Mother, who is also our divine parent and who loves each of us perfectly. We hope that each young woman will better understand her potential and worth when she knows that she too is created in the image of God.

“We are daughters of our Heavenly Parents, who love us, and we love Them.”

One response to “Welcome

  1. In the earliest days of the YW theme, it read “We are daughters of a Heavenly Father. . . . ” The “a” was soon replaced by “our,” and I remember seeing the change made in marker on the theme poster. I also remember mouthing “and Mother” after noticing the change. I can only guess what the YW president, who chafed at (and was quite outspoken about) the funding and organized activity differences between the YM and the YW, thought of the phrase.
